Where are you based?

We're an international and globally accessed company so we predominantly work online. Some of our practitioners/consultants, however, have home clinics and offices that you'll have the option to request when you book your session. In-person workshops and seminars are also listed separately, alongside online options.

3

What approaches do you use?

Strengths based, person centred approach drawing upon the Power Threat Meaning Framework, which is oppositional to the medical model, looking less at labels & more at your context. We practice eclectically which means we draw upon multiple approaches & interventions inclusive of evidence-based Neuroscience & Positive Psychology. In a nutshell, sessions can be tailored to you.

4

Who do you work with?

We work with adults (18+) & have experience with men, women, couples, families, performers, athletes, artists, victims of abuse, cultural diversity, ethnic minorities & military veterans.

5

What do you specialise in?

Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Career Changes, Lifestyle Changes, Authenticity & Self Acceptance, Relationships, Families, Confidence, Self Worth/Esteem, Self Improvement, ADHD, Artist Development & Career Development. It's an eclectic space, which is why it's important for you to know what you would like to work on and establish that with your practitioner.

6

What are psychometric outcome measures?

Psychometric outcome measures are a standard and scientific method used to measure experiences, symptoms, capabilities, & behaviours. It's possible to measure just about anything these days, but outcome measures are best used when they're interpreted with a professional, in context, and over time. We use Novopsych, a psychometric system, which graphs symptoms & experiences throughout your therapy/coaching, so you can get a clear picture of your progress. It also automatically calculates percentile ranks, which helps us to understand your experiences amongst the general population & has helped our clients to understand themselves better.

7

How long does therapy take?

How ever long it takes. Everyone is different, some people come for one session, others stay for the long haul. Some therapies are a little more specific than others, for example, CPT is typically a 12 week program, but this is why an initial assessment & goal setting is so important, so we can get an idea of what the scope of sessions is for you, uniquely.

8

What is the difference between coaching/therapy?

Therapy focuses on mental health and emotional healing, while coaching focuses on setting and achieving specific goals. A combined approach is often preferred, and your practitioner may have a very clear stance – which is why it's important to choose to work with who is right for you.

9

How often should I attend?

To get the most out of therapy or coaching, weekly/fortnightly sessions are recommended. CPT & EMDR sessions should be done weekly for best possible outcomes. If you're really looking for a bit of mental maintenance, then monthly might be enough for you.

10

How long, & how much are sessions?

Each of our team will charge based on their service individually and the length of sessions is often determined by the service itself. For therapy, we recommend 50-minute sessions unless otherwise specified. EMDR is conducted over 90-minutes. Some of our practitioners may offer 15-minute initial consultation on request. A "Sliding Scale" fee is discretionally available & individually assessed.

11

Do you offer rebates?

In Australia if you have a MHCP, you can claim back a rebate per session for therapy & if you meet the Extended Medicare Safety Net threshold, 80% of your out-of pocket cost can also be covered. We accept Open Arms referrals, Bupa globally, & are recognised amongst international insurance providers who may also cover costs for you - though it's best to ask us, and them. If you're within Australia and have been a victim of abuse, you may qualify for free sessions. Referral confirmation from your state provider is essential, contact us to find out more.

12

What happens if I need to change my appointment?

You can cancel or reschedule your session up to 48 hours prior to attending. All bookings can be scheduled, rescheduled and cancelled via your members portal using the "My Bookings" tab or you can email us at hello@theselfhelped.com or hello@ourhonestcompany.com

13

Do I need a "member" profile?

The short answer is yes, you need to register in order to book with us, as this allows us to be able to see all the important info we need, like your name, email address, contact number (not always required but it's definitely helpful). Your member profile allows you to set up your appointment reminder preferences, book, change or cancel sessions easily, & has access to member only areas, including additional free resources.

14

Is it free to be a "member"?

YES. Absolutely free.

You don't have to be a client to be a member of the site & access all the resources, you just have to sign up - & don't worry, that doesn't mean you have to subscribe to any emails if you want to drop in at your leisure without the prompt in your inbox. You can manage all of that in your preferences.

15

Are Honest Company/ Self Helped the same?

Basically, yes. This is just to do with branding and some changes that overtime that have allowed us to evolve, and actually, circle back to what was most effective for us in demonstrating what we're trying to do, and what we offer. Remember when Veet became Nair? It's a bit like that.
